Objectives

- Apply diagnostic techniques to vintage, historical and automaton watches, carrying out visual identification, describing the technical, chronological and historical-artistic characteristics, estimating the state of the power units, transmission elements, escapement, the indication system and the wear of the centres, wheels and pinions and preparing deposit documents, restoration files and technical sheets. - Determine restoration operations for vintage, historical and automaton watches based on their disassembly, disassembly and disassembly, specifying cleaning, recovery or reproduction and replacement tasks of parts to be developed on external mechanisms and machinery based on a restoration file. - Organize restoration operations for vintage, historical and automaton watches, taking into account the quality and time spent.

Career opportunities

He carries out his professional activity in stores, companies and/or watchmaking workshops dedicated to the distribution, sale, repair and maintenance of fine mechanical watches and/or vintage, historical and automatic watches. Works self-employed or employed by others, repairs fine mechanical watches and carries out auxiliary restoration activities for vintage, historical and automatic watch mechanisms, under the supervision of a senior technician in the case of watches that enjoy unique protection and guardianship that appear in the Heritage Catalog or those declared of cultural interest included in the General Inventory of Movable Property of Spanish Historical Heritage (Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage and Royal Decree 111/1986 partial development of the Law).

What it prepares you for

This training is in accordance with the training itinerary of the Training Unit UF2431 Diagnosis and organization for the restoration of period, historical and automata watches, certifying having passed the different Competence Units included in it, and is aimed at the accreditation of the professional Competencies acquired through work experience and non-formal training, through which you will be eligible to obtain the corresponding Certificate of Professionalism, through the respective calls published by the different Autonomous Communities, as well as the Ministry of Labor itself (Royal Decree 659/2023, of July 18, which develops the organization of the Vocational Training System and establishes a permanent procedure for the accreditation of professional skills acquired through work experience or non-formal training).
