Understand the functioning of the climate system and the past, current and future transformations on planet Earth, produced by climate variability and climate changes. Know and illustrate the differences between the anthropic and natural drivers of global warming and their influence on the energy balance of the climate system. Identify and select the main risks and opportunities due to climate change that occur at different scales, from the global to the territorial, based on the analysis of the dimensions of vulnerability.
Upon completing the "Climate Variability and Climate Change" course, graduates will be able to work as climate system analysts, specialists in climate change assessment, and experts in climate vulnerability and risk. You will be able to join research teams, assume roles in environmental agencies or consultancies, and collaborate in the creation of policies for adaptation to climate change and risk management in the face of extreme events related to climate variability.
The course "Climate Variability and Climate Change" prepares participants to understand the dynamics of the climate system and recognize how human action and natural factors affect climate change. Provides key insights to discern drivers of global warming and assess dimensions of vulnerability and risk. It covers the interpretation of atmospheric phenomena, from daily patterns to long-term trends, and the critical analysis of territorial vulnerability to these global challenges.
