Objectives

The objectives of this program seek to enable the student to: - Understand the energy context in which the world operates and its dependence on fossil fuels, as well as the main policies for the transition from fossil to renewable energies. - Analyze traditional electricity generation technologies through the use of coal, natural gas and nuclear energy - Learn about new electricity generation technologies through renewable resources: wind, solar, hydraulic, biomass, sea energy, etc. - Study hydrogen energy as a new energy vector and understand its importance in energy storage and transportation - Know the importance of smart networks, distributed generation and electric mobility as elements that will transform and make the city of the future more sustainable. - Know the management methodology applied to renewable energy projects - Design and implement a renewable energy project. - Know the work methodologies (including computer tools) that companies currently apply in energy-related projects.

Career opportunities

This master's degree seeks to open the doors to the sector of electrical energy generation through renewable energy sources, and more specifically, to: - The implementation and management of renewable resource measurement campaigns - The analysis of renewable resources (e.g., wind resource analysis) - Knowledge of renewable generation technologies, such as wind turbines, solar panels, hydraulic turbines, etc. - The conceptual or basic design of renewable energy facilities (e.g. wind farms, solar photovoltaic plants) - The management of renewable energy and hydrogen projects - The construction of wind farm facilities and solar photovoltaic plants - The management of distributed generation, smart grid and sustainable mobility projects

What it prepares you for

As a result, the student will be able to design and size wind farms, solar photovoltaic plants, hydroelectric plants, biomass projects and other renewable energy initiatives (e.g. thermoelectric, geothermal and marine). Additionally, you will be provided with knowledge about hydrogen energy and other renewable gases (biofuels), as well as the infrastructure that will be implemented in the cities of the future (e.g. distributed generation, smart grids, electric mobility).
