Course MF1635-2 Accident Prevention in Ski Areas

- Interpret different types of emergency action plans and related regulations, discriminating information related to accidents, technical failures in ski lifts, other dangerous situations and the deterioration of the natural environment, to establish the sequential hierarchy of action in each type of contingency. - Select and use the necessary clothing and personal protection equipment necessary in the performance of their professional functions of beaconing, signaling and surveillance of the ski area, to be permanently identified and protected in accordance with the guidelines of the reference entity and the occupational risk regulations. - Supervise a ski area, evaluating the characteristics of the snowy environment and its possible evolution according to the weather forecasts and the orography of the terrain to establish the safety limits within which to carry out the different activities of the ski resort and the risks of environmental deterioration. - Prepare reports estimating the risk of using a ski area based on the conditions of the facility and established safety and environmental protection protocols. - Apply conditioning, signaling and beacon techniques to snowy surfaces to establish a safe environment both in the accesses and in the ski areas, taking into account the protocols determined by the organization. - Interpret and, where appropriate, adapt the reference prevention and safety protocols to the different situations that occur in a ski area and check the information panels and beacons, reorganizing them if necessary, to establish a safe skiing environment. - Apply surveillance techniques in accordance with the protocols for preventing accidents and risk situations and preserving the natural environment, in ski areas, to neutralize as quickly as possible any dangerous or potentially dangerous situations that may occur.
