Description

Our current knowledge about HIV virus infection is quite extensive, however, due to its high rate of mutagenicity, it is difficult to find an efficient vaccine. In any case, the symptoms of AIDS, the disease triggered by this virus, are fairly well known. Thanks to antiretrovirals, a person infected by the virus can lead a completely normal life and not transmit the virus to other people. Through the Course on Clinical and Microbiological Aspects of HIV Infection you will learn the most relevant clinical aspects related to the infection, from treatments to infections by opportunistic pathogens. You will have a multidisciplinary teaching team that will not hesitate to accompany you in your training process.

Job opportunities

The main outputs of the Course in Clinical and Microbiological Aspects of HIV Infection are related to work in both public and private health centers, as well as in clinical analysis laboratories specialized in the diagnosis of infectious diseases. If you have previous training in the biohealth field, this course is a good complement.

What does it prepare you for?

The Course in Clinical and Microbiological Aspects of HIV Infection prepares you to know the necessary actions in the prevention and care of patients with HIV infection or AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). To this end, this course integrates different knowledge that is necessary to address the infection in time before AIDS appears and proceed to the administration of antiretrovirals.

Who is it addressed to?

This course is especially aimed at doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, etc. Although it is a qualification within the University's own teachings that does not qualify for professional practice, therefore, according to article 37.7 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university teachings and the quality assurance procedure for the qualifications included within the own teachings that do not require a prior university qualification for access to them, the purpose of the same is the expansion and updating of knowledge, competencies and training or professional skills that contribute to a better job insertion of citizens without a university degree, so it will be open to anyone without an access university health degree who is interested in pursuing it.
