For this reason, the help of a proofreader is essential to successfully complete the writing of a text. A proofreader is a professional essentially dedicated to polishing and filing those syntactic and grammatical aspects that, without being errors from a spelling point of view, affect the style and distort the formal aspect of the work. Throughout this Training Module, students will study various contents related to the application of correction signs within the framework of the UNE Standards. Specifically, the marking of texts using standardized UNE, composition standards, foundations for writing, style correction and correction of originals and printed proofs are analyzed.

Objectives

- Correct the original texts, at a syntactic and spelling level, to improve understanding in accordance with the publisher's own style book and according to the instructions set by the editor. - Carry out the correction of printed and layout tests in accordance with orthotypographic and text composition standards. - Apply the UNE standardized correction signs during the preparation and correction of texts. - Carry out the correction of documents so that the quality parameters required in the texts are met. - Check the corrected printed proofs and prepare the indexes included in the work to complete the text correction phase. - Practice writing short texts that can be included in the different elements that make up a complete work, such as promotional reviews, bibliographic files, cover, flaps, etc., always following the editor's instructions. - Apply text composition rules in relation to the content and style of different editorial works. - Check printed proofs including verification of indexes, page numbering, chapters, epigraphs, bibliographic references, etc.
