- Plan the work of the laboratory following established quality systems. - Inform and train the personnel in charge on matters related to their activity. - Manage the laboratory's material resources and control stocks. - Apply and control laboratory activities following occupational health and safety standards. - Control compliance with environmental regulations and respond in emergency situations. - Analyze the sampling process, explaining the procedures and resources of each of its sequential stages. - Describe basic sampling techniques and apply them to samples of different nature and status. - Take samples and transport them under conditions that guarantee representativeness and control of cross contamination. - Document the entire sampling process, recording the significant data of each stage that allow the reliability of the results to be verified. - Determine the chemical nature of a substance by identifying its organic or inorganic character, its physicochemical characteristics, interactions and reactivity in isolated conditions and with other substances. - Carry out the preparation of the necessary reagents, materials, equipment and waste disposal. - Propose qualitative and quantitative determinations for each substance under analysis in relation to the needs required for its analytical control. - Apply techniques that allow qualitative evidence of analytes in relation to their chemical properties, detection limits, interferences, the matrices in which they are found and the precise physicochemical conditions. - Perform quantitative chemical analyzes applying test procedures. - Assess the results obtained from the analytical tests, establishing conclusions based on references defined for the analyzed sample. - State the scientific-technical bases that support instrumental analysis by separation methods, relating the type of instrument to the properties it measures and the parameters that are analyzed. - Select the appropriate method and technique according to the analysis request and after carrying out a documentary consultation. - Prepare the expected reagents, samples and equipment, relating the latter and the techniques used in carrying out instrumental chemical analysis, with the parameters of the substance analyzed. - Perform chemical analyzes for quantitative determinations, with appropriate instrumental separation methods, complying with the principles of good laboratory practices. - Evaluate the validity of the results obtained in the analyses, interpreting the records and reporting the results. - Plan the work of the laboratory following established quality systems. - Know the importance of applying a quality system in the laboratory. - Detail the most relevant aspects of the prevention of environmental risks in the laboratory. - Control compliance with environmental regulations and respond to emergency situations. - Introduce the main regulations related to quality and environmental certification.
He develops his professional activity in companies of any size, public and private, self-employed or employed, in different sectors in quality control or those dedicated to external inspection services, as well as in research centers. Being able to perform their function in the laboratory and with their field team on site, in structures or facilities. Depending, where appropriate, functionally and hierarchically on a superior and may be in charge of lower-level personnel. The activity related to industrial radiology, in the use of radioactive facilities, is regulated by the Nuclear Safety Council.
In an increasingly globalized market, quality and environmental certification is an essential strategic factor. With this Master in Chemical Analysis the aim is to provide the necessary knowledge to integrate a quality and environmental certification process in the laboratory.
