Course in neonatal anesthesia (university degree + 4 ECTS credits)

Thanks to this course in neonatal anesthesia you will be trained in a very specialized area that gives health professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and effective anesthesia to newborns and infants. This course addresses the unique and challenging aspects of anesthesia in neonates, including preoperative evaluation, the selection of adequate drugs, monitoring and management of potential complications. In addition, you will review the basic care and the most appropriate resuscitation techniques for this pediatric population. You will also handle preoperative techniques and protocols to ensure treatment safety to provide neonates for quality treatment.

- Understand the physiological and anatomical development of the nervous and respiratory system in neonates and infants. - Obtain knowledge about drugs and most appropriate and safe anesthetic techniques for this population. - Master the necessary skills for appropriate monitoring and evaluation during the anesthetic procedure. - Acquire management in emergency situations and complications during anesthesia - Develop competencies in teamwork and effective communication with health personnel.

The professional exits of this course in neonatal anesthesia are those of anesthesiologist specialized in neonatology in specialized hospitals and clinics. You can be part of multidisciplinary teams responsible for providing perioperative care to newborns and infants that require surgery or invasive procedures.

With this course in neonatal anesthesia you will prepare to safely and effectively address the administration of anesthesia in newborns and infants, dotting yourself with the necessary knowledge about the specific physiological and anatomical development of this population. In addition, you will acquire the practical skills to select and manage the most appropriate anesthetic drugs, as well as to monitor and evaluate the procedure.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
