Course of clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection (university degree + 8 ECTS credits)

Our current knowledge about HIV virus infection is quite wide, however, due to its high mutagenicity rate, it is difficult to find an efficient vaccine. Anyway, AIDS symptoms, disease triggered by this virus, know each other quite well. Thanks to antiretrovirals, a person infected with the virus can lead a totally normal life and not transmit the virus to other people. Through the course in clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection you will know the most relevant clinical aspects related to infection, from treatments, to opportunistic pathogens infections. You will have a multidisciplinary teaching team that will not hesitate to accompany you in your training process.

- Taxonomically locate the virus, and indicate general aspects about its transmission mechanisms. - Understand the difference between HIV and AIDS. - Show the main HIV -related immunegnostic techniques. - Belshing with the treatment of HIV infection. - Indicate the main systemic alterations caused by the presence of the virus in the body. - Know the main opportunistic pathogens that can generate an infection in a situation of immunodeficiency.

The main course outputs in clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection are related to work in both public and private health centers, as well as in clinical analysis laboratories specialized in the diagnosis of infectious. If you have a previous training within the biosanitary field, this course is a good complement.

The course in clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection prepares you to know the necessary actions in the prevention and care of patients presenting HIV infection or AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). To do this, this course integrates different knowledge that is necessary to address the infection before the AIDS appears and proceed to the administration of antiretrovirals.

This course is especially aimed at doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, etc. Although it is a degree within the teachings of the university that does not enable the professional practice, so according to article 37.7 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university teachings and the procedure for assuring their quality for the degrees encompassed within the own teachings that do not require prior university degree for access to them, the purpose of them is The expansion and updating of knowledge, competencies and training or professional skills that contribute to a better job insertion of citizens and citizens without university degree, so it will be open to every person without health university degree of access that has an interest in carrying it out.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD).
