Summary

Our current knowledge about HIV virus infection is quite wide, however, due to its high mutagenicity rate, it is difficult to find an efficient vaccine. Anyway, AIDS symptoms, disease triggered by this virus, know each other quite well. Thanks to antiretrovirals, a person infected with the virus can lead a totally normal life and not transmit the virus to other people. Through the course in clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection you will know the most relevant clinical aspects related to infection, from treatments, to opportunistic pathogens infections. You will have a multidisciplinary teaching team that will not hesitate to accompany you in your training process.

Goals

- Taxonomically locate the virus, and indicate general aspects about its transmission mechanisms. - Understand the difference between HIV and AIDS. - Show the main HIV -related immunegnostic techniques. - Belshing with the treatment of HIV infection. - Indicate the main systemic alterations caused by the presence of the virus in the body. - Know the main opportunistic pathogens that can generate an infection in a situation of immunodeficiency.

To prepare you

The course in clinical and microbiological aspects of HIV infection prepares you to know the necessary actions in the prevention and care of patients presenting HIV infection or AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). To do this, this course integrates different knowledge that is necessary to address the infection before the AIDS appears and proceed to the administration of antiretrovirals.
