Summary

Although in recent years the industrial sector has weakened its economic and especially cultural value. The evolution of the new communication and information technologies has favored the improper use of works of various kinds and greater availability of them. Therefore, from government institutions and from the editorial sector itself, different actions have been launched that safeguard intellectual creations and protect copyright. In this way it is essential that professionals related to editing work have knowledge about copyright management and hiring. This module provides and analyzes the conceptual keys related to the management and contracting of copyright of different types of works, both for editorial services and for the hiring of originals, all based on the corresponding legislation. In this way, students will have the necessary knowledge to develop, manage and implement the hiring of rights effectively in real practice. The understanding of the process of contracting copyright and the most relevant aspects of the legislation that bases this contract constitute the central content of the didactic units that make up this module, offering an analysis and description of the actions of the copyright contracting process in the editorial sector. More specifically, and always based on the corresponding legislation, the principles and bases for the hiring of originals (books, publications, etc.) and editorial services are analyzed and reviewed, deepening the types of contract, in the relations between author/editor and in the establishment of the conditions for effective negotiation. Finally, the national, European and international legislation is reviewed, identifying the differences in the treatment of copyright in different geographical areas.

Goals

- Acquire the necessary skills to apply actions related to the management of copyright. - Identify and determine the conditions that must be presented for the hiring of original works, both individual and collective, necessary for its edition. - Determine the regulations to follow and manage an appropriate application to the relationships established between the editorial sector and the different professionals, suppliers, services, organizations and institutions. - Analyze the relationships established among all subjects participating in the contracting of copyright as authors, producers, artists or management entities. - Being able to agree with the authors or representatives the conditions of contracting the works, within the margins established by the editorial. - Select the works and proceed to hire the elements that will accompany these works, assessing factors such as their adaptation, suitability and cost. - Be able to apply different negotiation and communication strategies to obtain copyright contracting agreements, taking into account the factors, requirements and elements involved in it. - Acquire the necessary knowledge to agree with the authors and specialized agencies to hire images to include it in a work, discussing and reaching an agreement in relation to the different points of the contract. - Provide a global vision of copyright and intellectual property at the national, European and international level, as well as the differences between laws from different geographical areas.

Professional exits

It develops its professional activity in public companies, either from the local, autonomous or general administration of the State, in the area of graphic arts and design, as well as in private companies dedicated to the management of copyright in editorial projects, as well as the hiring of originals and negotiation in the editorial field. It is also trained to properly manage copyright legislation, according to the activity regulated by the corresponding regulations.

To prepare you

This training adjusts to the training itinerary of the MF0934_3 Formative Module. Contracting copyright certifying having exceeded the different competence units included, and is aimed at accreditation of the professional competences acquired through the work experience and non -formal training, via which you will choose to obtain the corresponding certificate of professionalism, through the respective calls Different Autonomous Communities, as well as the Ministry of Labor itself (Royal Decree 659/2023, of July 18, which develops the management of the professional training system and establishes a permanent procedure for the accreditation of professional competences acquired by work experience or non -formal training).

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD).
