Course in geriatrics and rehabilitation (university degree + 12 ECTS credits)

The course in Geriatrics and Rehabilitation is in full development to meet the growing demand for professionals specialized in the care and treatment of older people. Attention to the elderly is essential due to the aging of the population, and this course seeks to provide the necessary knowledge to address movement disorders and rheumatological effects that affect this group specifically. In addition, it focuses on rehabilitation and promotion of physical activity as fundamental pillars to improve the quality of life of older adults. The course in Geriatrics and Rehabilitation consists of three modules that address in depth different aspects of the care for older people.

- Understand movement disorders and the most common rheumatological effects in the elderly. - Develop evaluation and treatment skills in the field of geriatric rehabilitation. - Apply physical activity programs adapted to the needs of the elderly. - Know the foundations of gerontology and its relevance in the attention to the elderly. - Identify the factors that influence aging and their impact on health. - Improve the ability to design personalized intervention plans for geriatric patients. - Promote interdisciplinary work in the care and treatment of older adults

The professional exits of this course in geriatrics and rehabilitation are those of a geriatric rehabilitation specialist, physiotherapist focused on older people, professional day centers for older adults, coordinator of adapted physical activity programs, advisor in gerontological care and any position related to the care of the adult population.

The course in geriatrics and rehabilitation prepares you to become a professional trained in the care and treatment of the elderly, addressing aspects related to movement disorders, rheumatological effects and integral rehabilitation. During the course, you will acquire a series of skills and knowledge that will allow you to face the challenges of attention to the elderly.

This course is aimed exclusively at health personnel, diplomas or graduates in physiotherapy and graduates or graduates in Auxiliary Nursing Care Technician according to Law 44/2003, of November 21, on the management of health professions.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
