Summary

We must know that geriatrics or gerocultural assistants are professionals who perform the task of caring for the elderly in residences, day centers or in their homes. As such, we are the professionals in the field of geriatrics who work more directly with the elderly. This university course is aimed at certifying as a gerocultor for elderly residences. Likewise, a specialized training in first aid intervention with older people will be obtained.

Goals

- Get the best possible quality of life for the elderly population, from promotion, prevention and assistance activities. - Assess the old state of health objectively registering the manifestations of dependence and independence that it has before each of the fundamental needs. - Develop physical care interventions aimed at dependent people in residences of older. - Develop socio -health care interventions aimed at dependent people in elderly residences. - Develop psychosocial care interventions aimed at dependent people in elderly residences. - Know the field of nursing and the application of first aid in Geriatrics if necessary. - Manage material and personal resources in a unit/service and first aid actions that may be required. - Provide students with the necessary knowledge to develop basic first aid actions. - Recognize risk and emergency situations and adopt the most appropriate prevention and protection measures in each case.
