The structural design mastery is fundamental in civil engineering to guarantee the safety and functionality of industrial ships and high -rise buildings. Goals

The objective of this course is the knowledge and determination the loads and efforts that a structure (wind, ...) will support for its dimensioning thus avoiding, specifically the industrial ships and the buildings of great height. Through this course, the basis for the dimensioning of the necessary elements for the design of an industrial ship (porches, grows, belts, motherboard, ...) are established. The necessary notions for the dimensioning of high -rise buildings are also raised. This course proceeds to calculate the loads to which the structure will be subjected, we will learn to combine those loads to obtain flexion, shear and buckling efforts. Once the efforts have been known, the different elements of the structure can be sized as beams, pillars, plaques and porches knowing their efforts and deformations.
