Course in transgenic foods (university degree + 8 ECTS credits)

Thanks to this course in transgenic foods you will obtain specialized training in the area of food biotechnology, more specifically of transgenic foods. This type of food has ended up producing due to the use of genetically modified organisms, with the aim of providing it with a series of properties that it initially did not possess. At present there is a greater presence of foods from plants and transgenic vegetables, although it is already possible to find transgenic foods of animal origin. Students will be able to acquire the professional skills necessary to perform in this workplace, knowing the aspects of greater importance within the scope of the development and commercialization of transgenic foods.

- Study the concept of transgenic food. - Identify the different methods of obtaining transgenic foods. - Analyze the particularities of transgenics of plant origin. - Know the transgenics of animal origin. - Understand the possible benefits and risks of transgenic foods. - Understand the importance of regulations for the commercialization of transgenic foods.

Professional outputs of this course in transgenic foods are intended to cover those positions in which specific training, research, nutrition and R&D, such as nutritionists, technologists, pharmacists, veterinarians or professionals for private companies in the food industry or research centers are required.

With this course in transgenic foods, students are intended to develop the appropriate professional knowledge and competences to specialize in this professional field of food biotechnology, knowing the particularities of transgenic foods, the methods of obtaining these and the typology within this genetically modified product group.

This course is aimed exclusively at diplomas or graduates in human and dietary nutrition according to Law 44/2003, of November 21, on the management of health professions.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
