University Course Hematology: Hematology (university degree + 8 ECTS credits)

Blood is the specialty that is responsible for the study, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood diseases and organs that participate in their production, as well as its components. This, due to the multitude of functions that it performs, because it is the most extensive liquid tissue and for the ease of access to obtain samples, the study of blood in all fields, both biochemical, hematological, immune and/or microbiological, is frequently used. With this course, the necessary knowledge related to hematology will be provided.

- Estimate normal levels of the main blood components. - Describe the different blood extraction techniques and other biological samples. - Define the main evidence used in the hematology laboratory. - Analyze the components and cells that form the blood. - Prevent or communicate blood -related diseases through blood samples. - Determine the indications of blood transfusion. - Acquire the necessary knowledge to carry out a transfusion of blood components avoiding possible side effects.

It develops its professional activity in the field of health, in order to know the cells that make up the blood and the different techniques that can be performed by the Hematology and Hemotherapy technician, as well as knowing the indications and modes of application of hemotherapy.

This course prepares students about the different tests that can be performed in the laboratory by hematology technical staff, with the main purpose of preventing, detecting or treating various diseases intimately related to blood.

This course is aimed at all professionals in the field of health, in order to know the cells that make up the blood and the different techniques that can be carried out in the laboratory, in order to know the indications and modes of application of hemotherapy.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
