Hyperbaric medicine is a novel medical therapy that is based on the use of 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, known as a hyperbaric chamber, generally at pressures between 1.5 and 3.0 atmospheres absolute. Some of the uses of this therapy are: the treatment of decompression syndrome that divers usually suffer when rising to the surface, increasing the partial pressure of oxygen in the tissues, increasing the oxygen transport capacity of the blood. To implement this type of therapy, a series of knowledge about oxygen therapy, underwater medicine or the operation of hyperbaric chambers is required. Through this master's degree in hyperbaric medicine, students are offered the appropriate complementary training to specialize in this field.
