Master in Occupational Therapy in Mental Health

Mental health is directly related to various human occupations and each act of life. The occupational therapist has to develop a multidimensional vision of relationships between people and environments and between each person and their most significant environment. Through the present Master of Occupational Health Mental Health, the tools, reasoning and practical examples for the development of their professional functions in this sector are offered to occupational graduates in occupational therapy. It is permanent and complementary training, not enabling for professional practice.

Among the objectives of the Master of Occupational Health, we highlight the following: - Guide health personnel, in relation to the treatment of the patient and their families in the corresponding stages of the gerontopsychiatric disease. - Update knowledge about gerontopsychiatry. - Deepen the role of health personnel in care for dementias. - Make a survey of diseases and medical conditions. - Know schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. - Know the psychosocial and environmental problems. - Know disorders such as personality, sleep, food etc. - Concer the context of occupational therapy in Spain. - Learn the areas of intervention (rehabilitation, integration and inclusion). - Know the mission and vision of occupational therapy in mental health. - The fundamental elements of the profession in healthcare practice. - Know how programs in occupational therapy are elaborated. - Performs the analysis of reality. - Learn the individual intervention process with the person and the environment. - Be aware that everyone at some point in our lives depends on others. - Know that it is psychomotor skills and its intervention areas. - Know psychomotor development and how the body scheme is acquired. - Acquire knowledge of our body to work the different disorders and alterations. - Know the role of the psychomotorist and the psychomotor room. - Learn the most relevant strategies in psychomotor intervention. - Know how psychomotor development is evaluated through observation.

This master allows you to complement your knowledge and improve the performance of your functions. Being complementary training, it does not enable professional practice.

Thanks to this Master of Occupational Therapy Mental Health you can complete and update your knowledge in the field of occupational therapy, whether individual as with populations. This is permanent training for university graduates in occupational therapy. It does not enable the exercise of the profession.

The Master of Occupational Therapy Mental Health is mainly directed to professionals, students and university degrees in occupational therapy, who wish to perform complementary training in the area of occupational therapy.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
