Necropsy course (university degree + 8 ECTS credits)

The necropsy course provides an integral understanding of the procedures and techniques used in the post mortem exam in the forensic and medical field. Participants will explore the evidence collection and analysis process through necropsy, with an approach to the precise determination of the cause of death. Topics such as differences between necropsy and autopsies, ethical and legal considerations, preparation of samples, dissection and sampling techniques, as well as the analysis of organs and tissues to identify injuries and anomalies will be addressed. The importance of biosafety in corpses manipulation will be emphasized and knowledge about toxicological analysis will be provided.

After completing the necropsy course, you will have various job opportunities in the medical and forensic field. You can perform as a medical forensic, forensic pathologist or forensic researcher in government institutions, research agencies, forensic laboratories and hospitals. In addition, you can work as a specialist in toxicological analysis.

The necropsy course prepares you to assume a fundamental role in determining causes of death and in the collection of essential medical and forensic information. You will acquire knowledge in dissection techniques, tissue analysis and organs, as well as in the identification of injuries and pathologies. You will be trained to apply biosecurity measures and carry out post -mortem toxicological analysis.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
