Course in Criminal Mediation

The rigidity of the Spanish jurisdiction, together with the litigious tradition and the collapse of the administration of justice, has resulted in a new type of criminal institutions. The degree of dissatisfaction of the parties to the lawsuit translates into a new perspective of criminal law: restorative justice. It is an ancient technique, with western iusphilosophical roots, which is gradually inserted in our legal system. That is why it will be interesting to know through the course the needs facing this new challenge in the environment of justice, as well as its present results.

- Acquire expert knowledge about the institution of criminal mediation. - Introduce students into the procedural and legal environment that surrounds and restricts the activity of the mediator as a catalyst for the private will of the parties. - Know interpersonal relationships in the criminal field, distinguishing the parties at stake. - Obtain basic tools to propose creative solutions in the environment of the criminal conflict, adjusted to the needs of the parties.

A series of professions, related to law firms, psychologists cabinet, prison officials, social educators. This opportunity for both private and administrative labor offers an interesting range of possibilities, which the same students will corroborate as progressing in the course.

This Criminal Mediation course aims to provide students with technical and theoretical training in the field of criminal mediation. The different levels of justice will be assumed, from a personal perspective, through a systematized learning of the areas of minors and adults. In addition, the character of mediation will be taken into account from a temporary perspective, giving rise to four differentiated moments with their peculiarities and similarities.

A series of professions stand out around criminal mediation, such as those related to law, social work, psychology, pedagogy, education, etc. The increasingly specialized institutions in the field of criminal mediation offer essential knowledge for lawyers, psychologists, prison officials, social educators and another series of essential professional positions in the field where criminal mediation appears.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
