Course in Management and Disaster Risk and Climate Change

This course addresses the current challenges in disaster risk management and the involvement of climate change in development models. It offers a solid conceptual framework, analyzing the risk from a territorial and systemic perspective, preparing participants to actively contribute to strategic planning. Through four thematic units, we seek to deepen the understanding of the social construction of the risk, the application of strategies for integral management and the implementation of policies appropriate to the reality of climate change. The course, which imparts distance education, will provide students with the necessary tools to identify and address risk conditions, strengthening competencies to evaluate and manage intervention strategies. Ideal for those who seek a practical understanding applied to climate change management and disaster risk.

- Provide students with the conceptual and context framework associated with disaster risk management and climate change management allowing the social construction of risk in relation to development planning conditions, the different stages in what is called the systemic approach and the approach and intervention according to the process approach for a comprehensive risk management and climate change. COMPETENCES - Generate knowledge that allows visualizing the causes of disasters, framed in development models and their territorial involvement in actions in accordance with the areas for the application of risk management and climate change management - Establish conceptual elements that allow differentiating the current risk conditions, from future risk conditions, in the understanding of the possibilities for their intervention integrated into the planning of territorial development. - Generate concepts that allow to base the theory of processes for disaster risk management and its materialization in terms of the formulation, execution, monitoring and evaluation of policies, strategies, plans, programs, regulations, instruments, measures and permanent actions that allow to know, reduce the risk and handle disasters. - Identify the International Framework for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change and its main challenges for the implementation of processes nationwide, regional and local.

After finishing this course, you can access positions in public organizations and NGOs focused on disaster risk management and climate change. You will apply your knowledge in systemic approach, focused on integral strategies and effective process management. You will be trained to contribute to the elaboration and execution of policies and action plans focused on mitigation and adaptation to climate change, as well as in the prevention and response to natural disasters, contributing to sustainable development and the resilience of communities.

The course is conceived for professionals from various areas such as urbanism, environment, territorial development and public management, which seek to understand disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change. Analyze the interrelation between development and risk practices, promoting systemic analysis and intervention strategies from territorial planning. It includes conceptual frameworks from an integral approach, with a look at the international context and its application in local policies.
