Emergency and Disaster Psychology Course: Psychology in Disaster, Catastrophes and Emergencies (University degree + 8 ECTS credits)

Psychological intervention in crisis, emergencies and catastrophes is an intervention strategy that is carried out at the time one of these situations occurs, and pursues the person involved to recover from the state of disorder suffered, as long as possible the functionality as much as possible to face the event at the emotional, behavioral and rational level. Through the present course of Emergency and Disaster Psychology, students are offered adequate training to implement this type of strategies, facing the situation with appropriate professional and social knowledge and skills.

Among the main objectives of the Emergency and Disaster Psychology course we can highlight the following: - Know the main focuses of psychological intervention that may occur in disasters, catastrophes and emergencies. - Know the main psychological intervention strategies related to the health field. - Recognize psychological risk situations when they occur. - Apply the techniques and skills required in each risk situation. - Solve these risk situations with determination.

Thanks to the Emergency and Disaster Psychology Course you can acquire the knowledge, competences and skills, both professional and social, necessary to successfully face the intervention and attention of the different involved in a situation of disaster, catastrophe or emergency, both victims and other intervenings.

This course in psychology in disasters, catastrophes and emergencies is especially aimed at psychologists. Although it is a degree within the teachings of the university that does not enable the professional practice, so according to article 37.7 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university teachings and the procedure for assuring their quality for the degrees encompassed within the own teachings that do not require prior university degree for access to them, the purpose of them is The expansion and updating of knowledge, competencies and training or professional skills that contribute to a better job insertion of citizens and citizens without university degree, so it will be open to every person without health university degree of access that has an interest in carrying it out.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD).
