Clinical infectology is the branch of medicine that aims to study, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of different diseases originated by infectious agents, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. After completing the Master Infectology, students will have achieved, among others, the following objectives: - Raise awareness of the importance of public health training among health professionals. - Define the concept of public health and study its evolution and relationship with epidemiology. - Learn to interpret epidemiological phenomena and know the importance of epidemiological surveillance. - Know the evolution of the most prevalent diseases as well as their current situation. - Know the programs aimed at the exercise of health promotion in society. - Relate the fundamental concepts of the transmission of inheritance in the human being. - Interpret the genetic basis of the main pathologies of the human being. - Know the metabolic deficiencies related to the appearance of different pathologies in man. - Acquire basic knowledge related to the human immune system. - Identify the main pathologies linked to immune deficiencies. - Know the detection and study techniques of the main human pathogenic microorganisms. - Describe the main genres of proteobacteria as well as the different pathologies they cause in man. - Identify the main types of pathogenic gram negative bacteria of the human being, attending to the diseases they cause. - Relate the spirochetes and eukogenic microorganisms with the pathologies they cause. - Know the antibacterial and antifungal drugs, attending to their scope. - Analyze the origin, characteristics and response mechanisms of the immune system. - Analyze the extraction and amplification techniques of nucleic acids (PCR and variants) and their multiple applications. - Describe autoimmunity and techniques usually used for study. - Analyze the hypersensitivity phenomenon and laboratory techniques used in allergies studies. - Describe the methodology used in the study of lymphocyte subpopulations and in the functional characterization of relevant cells of the immune system. - Analyze the application of the various antigen-antibody techniques in the microbiological and hematological diagnosis. - Describe the process that guarantees the quality of the parameters analyzed in the various immunological techniques. - Know the agents causing infections. - Analyze the immune system, as well as the concepts autoimmunity and immunodeficiency. - Know the main infectious diseases. - Identify the main bacterial and viral diseases. - Know the main urgent infectious pathologies. - Analyze the most frequent nosocomial diseases. - Improve interventions in the prevention of infections by intestinal parasites. - To publicize the main novelties and clinical advances of the parasitosis that may be presented in specialized care, especially among the immigrant population. - Define what a clinical laboratory, its organization, sections and materials, instruments and basic equipment of the same is. - Identify and select the type of sample required to diagnose a possible infectious disease. - Describe the main syndromes in travelers who have infectious tropical diseases. - Identify the main infectious tropical diseases. - Select the indicated treatment within the main groups of diseases. - Prevent infectious tropical diseases. - Define the meaning of HIV/AIDS and what it implies in the organism of the human being. - Describe the mechanisms or causes produced by AIDS in our body. - List what are the symptoms that can refer to the diagnosis of the disease. - Deepen the care that must be applied to people who present the disease. - Study what are the preventive measures that should Take into account to prevent the disease from developing.

Similarly, it is oriented to anyone who for personal or professional issues has to be trained in this area.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
