The professionals and workers of the sea must have a series of knowledge and notions in the field of medicine, to know how to act and respond to certain health complications that can occur in their day to day, in a work environment in which medical assistance is complex. Through this Master Medicine Maritima, students are offered the appropriate training to specialize in the field of health care in maritime environments, taking into account the special considerations and particularities that occur in them, developing the basic knowledge of maritime medicine to chronic diseases of special incidence in maritime medium, through the study of maritime medicine in sport or aquatic and hyperbaric medicine.

Among the main objectives of the Maritima Medicine Master we can highlight the following: - Know the basic concepts of sports medicine. - Analyze the special considerations that must be taken into account in medicine in the maritime field. - Learn everything related to professional medical recognitions in sea workers. - Identify the keys to prevention of occupational hazards in the maritime sector. - Study the main emergencies that can occur in maritime environments. - Identify and analyze chronic diseases with special incidence in this area. - Know the peculiarities of maritime medicine in sports, underwater medicine and hyperbaric medicine. - Know the established prodes to monitor and health control of sea workers. - Study the anatomy and physiology of the human body. - Learn the main forms of initial action in different situations such as asphyxiations, hemorrhages, burns, wounds, poisoning, trauma, etc. - Know the foundations of the prevention of occupational hazards for sea workers. - Know the hygiene and health measures to take into account by the sea workers. - Study the rescue, immobilization and mobilization procedures of injured. - Develop the basic knowledge of pharmacology and management of the on -board kit. - Know the protocols of the Radio-Physical Service or radio medical consultation. - Provide students with the necessary knowledge to develop basic first aid actions. - Recognize risk and emergency situations and adopt the most appropriate prevention and protection measures in each case.

The present Master Medicine is especially aimed at professionals and students in the health field and other related ones who are interested in expanding or updating their knowledge about maritime medicine, to specialize in this work environment. Similarly, the Maritima Medicine course is addressed to anyone who for personal or professional reasons wants to train in maritime medicine, or to all those sea workers who are interested in expanding or updating their knowledge in this area, to improve their professional performance and train to act in emergency situations.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
