Summary

The operation of electricity generation plants uses a wide variety of resources that cover from sophisticated measurement equipment, powerful computer equipment and specific software. Operation responsibles are required a multidisciplinary training in technical, economic, statistical, quality, etc. to achieve continuous improvement in generation plans and processes with a view to achieving optimal values of reliability, availability, maintaining and safety (Rams). Regarding maintenance, the latest estimates indicate that it implies the entire economy, so that it represents about 10% of the GDP of a developed country, which gives an idea of the importance of maintenance as a strategic sector in any advanced country, which employs multitude of professionals with all kinds of qualification, but with a clear tendency towards the graduates of industrial engineering.

- Understand the energy context in which the world moves and its strong dependence on fossil fuels as well as the main policies for transformation towards the implementation of renewable energies. - Analyze conventional technologies of electric power generation through coal, natural gas and nuclear energy - Know new technologies for generating electricity through renewable resources: wind, solar, hydraulic, biomass, sea energies ... - Study of hydrogen energy as a new energy vector and its transcendence in energy storage and transport - form the importance of intelligent networks, distributed generation and electric mobility as elements that will transform and make it The city of the future is more sustainable. - Learn the methodology for the management and development of renewable energy projects - Develop a renewable energy project. - Learning is based on projects (you learn “doing”) so that the student can know the work methodologies (including computer tools) that are currently implanted in companies for the solution and development of this type of projects.

To prepare you

The Master develops technical, economic, environmental and management knowledge of sustainable generation of electricity through the use of renewable energy. The student is enabled to deal with the design and dimensioning of wind farms, photovoltaic solar plants, hydraulic plants, biomass projects and other renewable energy (thermoelectric, geothermal and sea energies). It also provides knowledge in the energy of hydrogen and other renewable (biofuel) gases as well as in the infrastructure that will be implemented in the city of the future (distributed generation, intelligent networks and electric mobility). It is essential within organizations to have an operation and maintenance system of these equipment, rigorous and orderly, to maintain the centrals in operation as many hours as possible.
