Neonatal nursing (university degree + 12 ECTS credits)

The neonatal nursing course offers you complete training about the care and specialized care required by newborns. You will address fundamental issues such as the Neonatology, Pharmacological Therapeutic Room, Drug Administration Techniques, Respiratory Assistance, Nutrition, Resuscitation, Taking of Constants and Samples, and specific care for newborns in risk situations such as respiratory problems, premature, or with infectious risk. This training focuses on providing you with the theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care to newborns in neonatal units. You will also have a team of specialized professionals in the field.

- Acquire knowledge about specialized care and care in neonatology. - Know the different routes of drug administration in the neonatal context. - Recognize evacuation, drainage and urinary catheterization devices in neonatology. - Learn neonatal respiratory assistance techniques, including non -invasive ventilation and mechanical ventilation. -Develop respiratory physiotherapy skills for the management of respiratory problems in newborns. - Dominate the taking of constants, samples and complementary tests in neonatology. - Integrate specific care knowledge for newborns in risk situations.

The professional exits of this course in neonatal nursing are those of nurse in neonatology and neonatal intensive care units, both in public and private hospitals. You can also work on primary care services, monitoring and attention to high -risk newborns, specialized clinics and neonatal transport services.

The neonatal nursing course prepares you to perform competently and safely in the care of newborns, both in the hospital and in neonatal intensive care units. You will learn to provide respiratory assistance, adequately administer drugs, perform specialized procedures and provide comprehensive care to newborns and their families.

This course is aimed exclusively at diplomas or graduates in nursing according to Law 44/2003, of November 21, on the ordination of health professions.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
