This course in principles of Dentistry and Periodontics offers you a specialized training in the field. Periodontics is responsible for detecting and treating pathologies that affect tooth support tissues, that is, gums, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone. Periodontal diseases make up the set of tissue conditions surrounding and subject to natural teeth and also implants, so it is essential to know the clinical course of these conditions for the processes of placement and maintenance of dental implants.

- Describe the structure, functions and components of the different tissues that make up the tooth: enamel, cement, dentin and pulp. - Know the general aspects of the periodont, identifying the parts in which it is divided, as well as the functions and importance of each of them. - Know the clinical features of the different oral pathologies of interest in dentistry. - Identify the different typologies as well as the particular and distinctive characteristics of the different manifestations of gingivitis. - Develop the clinical features of chronic, acute, ulcerative periodontitis necrosante, refractory and as a manifestation of systemic diseases. - Describe the different exams for the diagnosis of periodontal diseases. - Learn how antiseptic, antibiotic, mechanical and surgical treatment of periodontal diseases develops. - Identify and know the indications of the main types of drugs used in dentistry: anti -inflammatory, antibiotics, coagulants and anticoagulants.

It develops its professional activity both on its own and integrated into companies, public or private, dedicated to dentistry and in particular, to the treatment of periodontal diseases.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD).
