Stomatherapy course: Course in stomatherapy: nursing care of the ostomized patient

Stomatherapy is the set of techniques, care and procedures that are carried out before the ostomized patient. That is, it focuses on the care of people who for different reasons have been subjected to surgery that aims to create a duct by which to lead to the exterior fecal and/or urinary matter, body waste or secretions of the organism, through an opening in the abdomen. These patients require a series of care and care not only at the physical level, but also at the psychological level and in everything related to food guidelines. With this stomatherapy course, students are offered the appropriate knowledge about colloproctological pathology and types of ostomies, as well as nursing care before the ostomized patient necessary to specialize in stomatherapy.

Once students have satisfactorily completed the stomatherapy course, the following professional knowledge and skills will have been developed among others: - Know the colloproctological pathology and the different types of ostomies. - Analyze both physical and psychological aspects of ostomized patients. - Know in detail what are the nursing care of the ostomized patient. - Determine the importance and nutritional guidelines to be taken into account by the oystimized patient. - Study the children's stoma. - Identify what are the complications that can occur in stomata.

Through the knowledge developed throughout the stomatherapy course, students can complete or update their knowledge in this area, and thus promote their work career in the field of nursing, specializing in one of the areas with the greatest shortage of qualified and specialized personnel.

Thanks to this stomatherapy course you can complete your professional and academic knowledge in the field of nursing, specializing in stomatherapy and care for ostomized patients. To do this, you will know not only colloproctological pathology and the different types of ostomies, but you will also learn the physical and psychological aspects of treatment, the importance of food in these patients, the complications that can occur in the treatment or characteristics of the children's stoma.

The stomatherapy course is mainly aimed at professionals, graduates and students of the health field in general, and nursing in particular, who want to expand or update their knowledge in this area. In the same way, all those people who, due to labor or even personal, have an interest in knowing everything related to colloproctology, ostomies and the care to be given to these patients, are addressed.

This training is not included in the scope of official regulated training (Infant Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Official Professional Training FP, Baccalaureate, University Degree, Official University Master and PhD). It is therefore a complementary and/or specialization training, aimed at acquiring certain skills, skills or aptitudes of a professional nature, being able to be barely as merit in workbags and/or opposition competitions, always within the complementary training section and/or continuous training being always essential to review the specific requirements of the public labor stock of the public labor stock market.
